Thread Lifts: Non Surgical Face & Neck Lift

Patient before Thread Lift

Thread lifts are non-surgical treatments that lift the face using specially designed threads, without having to make surgical incisions. The ageing process often causes the face to sag, resulting in a loss of volume and a drooping effect. Thread lifts elevate certain parts of the face to restore a smoother, more youthful appearance. Thread lifts can effectively smooth wrinkles and tighten sagging skin.

Patient 1 Hour After Thread Lift

At Skin Medical we use PDO threads. PDO threads (a suture known as PolyDiOanone) are a dissolvable thread with cogs which can be used to hitch the sagging skin and instantly lift it to create a younger looking profile. Over the following 5 weeks the body’s immune system breaks down the thread and the cogs. At the same time, a collagen-building process occurs that generates firmer, tighter toned skin with added volume.

PDO thread lifts can be performed effectively on both the face and the neck area.

Your thread lift consultation

The practitioner will ask what results you want to achieve and will be able to design a treatment plan which is suitable for you.

Frequently Asked Questions About PDO Thread Lifts

How is the PDO Thread Lift treatment performed?

The PDO Thread Lift treatment is performed under local anaesthetic. The process takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on how many threads are used.

How Long Does It Last?

The results of PDO thread lift treatment can last up to 18 months. We usually recommend an annual maintenance treatment at around 12 months. We also recommend that some patient’s combine PDO thread lift treatment with Juvederm Vycross facial fillers to achieve an optimum result. These treatments will maintain the lift and will stimulate further collagen production, to support your new youthful appearance.

AM I a Suitable Candidate For a Thread Lift?

Generally, the most suitable patients for PDO thread lifts are those aged between mid-thirties and late-fifties. Ideal candidates are those that are showing early signs of ageing through sagging cheeks, appearance of jowls, deep folds along nose to corner of mouth, heavy eye brows or wrinkled lower eye area.

When will I see results?

You will see results immediately following the procedure and there will be an ongoing improvement over the coming weeks as the body’s own collagen builds and creates firm, toned skin giving a natural looking, more youthful appearance.

What are the Risks or Side Effects of thread lifts?

The side effects of PDO thread lifts are minimal. Common side effects include bruising, tenderness and slight discomfort.

What Does It Cost?

The total cost depends on the number of threads and cogs used. Superficial treatments using threads only range from £300 to £1000 depending on patient’s requirements. The cost of the treatment using cogs and threads treatment range from £500 to £1500 (inclusive of consultation and aftercare). Maintenance treatments typically cost around £300 to £500 per year to maintain the results.
