“I was 11 when I first noticed I had more hair than other girls my age. I didn’t speak to anyone and no one approached me about it, probably because it’s such a taboo subject. I knew that kids on the playground were whispering about me but ignored it. As I got older, a little beard and a moustache appeared – in fact, I had hair all over my arms, legs, stomach, chest and bottom. It was sheer hell. When I looked in the mirror, I just wanted to cry.
