vaser liposuction

Have you tried every fitness class out there? Are diets becoming tedious and not shifting those love handles? Sometimes, those stubborn areas need a little extra help to make you feel like yourself again and restore lost confidence.

This ultrasound technology  is becoming increasingly more popular for patients wanting a less invasive fat removal treatment. In and out of the clinic within two – three hours with minimal down time. Typically treating areas such as chin, bingo wings, love handles, male breasts, legs, knees, ankles, stomach and buttocks- to name a few!

How does it work?

Vaser lipo is performed under local anaesthetic, this means less down time and faster results. Patients are totally awake throughout the procedure.
After applying local anaesthetic to the target areas of the body, a small 3mm incision allows the insertion of an ultra sound energy probe to be inserted to break down the fat cells. Once the areas have been contoured to achieve the desired outcome, the fat cells are then easily removed by a gentle suction technic and lymphatic drainage massage. The sound-waves only effect fat cells, leaving nerves & blood vessels perfectly intact and as a result less trauma. https://www.skinmedical.co.uk/fat-removal/vaser/faqs/

Referred to by other clinics as ‘Lunch time lipo’. This is not something to be taken likely as there are still risks involved just like any procedure.

It is also cheaper than traditional liposuction and back to normal activities in few days post -surgery.

Sounds fantastic to us, what’s next?
Always do your research when it comes to plastic surgery procedures. Are they a qualified and experienced surgeon in their field of expertise? Are they reputable and show honest results of their consenting patients pictures? Are they CQC registered? https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-123558251. Have a consultation with the team doing the procedure to find out if you are a good candidate and discuss concerns, pricing, and not forgetting the exciting results you can achieve. Ask to see before and after photos. Also ensure you are provided with several follow up post treatment reviews with the clinicians.

Vaser liposuction has helped so many of our patients, whether it’s to improve their confidence or achieve their preferred bikini or male body shape. See what just some of our patients had to say after their treatments below.

Transgender Treatments

This three part series from ITV, provides unprecedented access to London transgender Surgery clinic, which treats both NHS and Private patients. The programme gives a unique insight into patients journey for transgender describing their issues not seen before on television.

images

It covers the challenges and lives of trans people as they undertake transformations from one gender to the other. The topics covered are wide ranging and relevant. Educating the wider population of their needs and complex issues was of major benefit to many.

Skin Medical

Skin Medical, as a clinic providing NHS transgender services, we found it to be compelling viewing. The programme follows men and women who believe they were born into the wrong body, over 12 month period as they approach and undergo transgender transitioning and in some cases surgery. We learned that as of April 2017, there were 280 patients in the UK on the list for gender reassignment surgery and another 169 consulting on the process, according to the Imperial College Health Care Trust. Also figures published in July 2017 showed that the number of children being referred to gender identity clinics has quadrupled in the past five years. One question on the minds of some is whether the NHS is supportive enough of people with gender dysphoria? It has been accepted that NHS has failed to prioritise for transgender patient care, however the good news is that NHS now agreed to expand the Service.

NHS Provider

Here at Skin Medical we are an NHS provider aiding patients in the clearance of hair before gender reassignment. We also treat private patients. This is something which we are proud to be associated with and gives us great joy to help patients on their life changing journeys.

Cosmetic injections. Who does it?

Fake Cosmetic Doctor goes to Court for giving fake Allergan cosmetic injection.

Bournemouth crown Court hears that three patients who where told that their practitioner was a qualified Doctor ended up in hospital or needing care. One receive anaphylactic shock which is life threatening and ended up in hospital. Two others had long lasting difficulty in eating and speaking. The fake doctor traded under his company called ‘Smooth Face Company’. He visited beauty spas and hairdressers to treat people.

The so called Doctor, was not on the General Medical Council. Consequently is being charged with causing grievous bodily harm and fraud. The muscle relaxing injection medication is said to be fake and he used incorrect concentration.
Patients have been left with permanent disfigurement.

So, What to do to protect yourself?

The lessons to be learnt is that patients seeking cosmetic injections for either fillers or muscle relaxing injection should seek consultation and injections from clinics registered by Care Quality Commission as they inspect these clinics and validate all persons on General Medical Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Eye lid surgergy
Plexr for Non Surgical Blepharoplasty

Plexr Non Surgical Blepharoplasty Eye Bag Removal Eye Lid Rejuvenation

Unwanted skin conditions around your eyes normally matches any of the following descriptions:
• Excess upper eyelid skin
• Excess lower eyelid skin
• Hooded eyes
• Folds along upper eyelids
• Unevenness of skin folds
• Wrinkles under eyes
• Eye bags
• Festoons
• Skin laxity under eye
• Asymmetrical skin appearances
• ‘dog ears’ from past eyelid surgery
• Tired or aged appearance

If you suffer from any of the above or know someone who does then this blog post about Plexr will be of interest to you.

How Does It Work?

Plexr is a device that forms plasma to immediately transform excess skin from a solid to a gas. This process is similar to that experienced when lightning strikes.
Plexr delivers its energy only to the superficial skin cells, without affecting deeper tissues, thus enables the perfect plasticity of the eyelid movement immediately after the treatment. The result is an immediate reduction of the excess skin on the upper or lower eyelid, as well as the shrinking of the excess skin in the external region around the eye and improved skin quality and texture. The benefits are also the improvement of the expression lines at the corner of the eye and the cheekbone (“crow’s feet”).”

What’s Involved?

A numbing cream is first applied to help minimize discomfort. Once the topical anaesthetic has taken effect, a conductor instrument is used to eliminate excess skin without touching the skin. However it is aimed at the excess skin and is extremely accurate. The patient’s offending loose skin is then evaporated. What is left behind are tiny brown scabs known as carbon crust which help protect the new skin whilst it’s forming.

What’s the Recovery like?

The patient’s recovery from the crusting is normally 7 – 10 Days which is much more efficient than traditional surgery as there is no bruising. Swelling can occur on day two and last for two days. Exact time frame will be patient dependent as each patient is unique. Oxygenetics, a liquid camouflage matching your skin tone, can be applied to mask the crusting whilst the scab is formed.
The swelling will be apparent for a few days, and the eyes will feel very tight during the time before the scabs naturally fall off revealing the new tighter “baby” skin.

Is it a One Off Procedure and how long does it last?

Yes Plexr can be performed as a one off treatment and it’s results will remain just as long as a surgical procedure does.

When will I see Results?

Patient’s results will be evident straight away and optimum results are achieved in less than 30 days.

What are the Benefits compared with Traditional Surgery?

• Surgery involves cutting skin, creates a scar and requires stitches.
• Requires injection of local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic.
• Avoid risk of too much skin been take out preventing eyelids to close.
• Plexr has short downtime and
• Is much MORE AFFORDABLE..
At Skin Medical our average treatment price is £1200.

Electrolysis for transgender patients

How Electrolysis works
Electrolysis is medically approved for permanent hair removal of both facial and body hair as the electric current destroys the hair regrowth cells that house the hair root.
elec pic blogIn a nutshell, electrolysis involves using electrical current applied to the root of the hair, via a very fine needle, to destroy the follicle and cause the hair to fall out.

Electrolysis suitability

Transgender patients either laser hair removal or electrolysis can treat facial hair. However, for those who are having gender reassignment surgery, electrolysis is the preferred treatment.

Electrolysis is very effective for patients who have unwanted natural blonde, red or grey facial & body hair.  Electrolysis is the only solution available for permanent hair removal if the hair is light/fair or grey.

Skin Medical treat hairs using single-use needles and sterilized tweezers to remove individually treated hair to minimize the risk of infection.

laser hair removal face manchesterPCOS Is a condition which affects how a woman’s ovaries function which can cause excessive hair growth, acne and acne scarring .There are three main features of the condition including: cysts that develop in your ovaries, ovaries not regularly releasing eggs and having high levels of ‘male hormones’ (androgens). Your GP will diagnose if you have at least two of these symptoms, however it’s important to note that you can have PCOS without having cysts on your ovaries. Also, be reassured that all women have androgens. It’s fluctuating levels which can cause problems such as:

  • irregular periods – which means ovaries don’t regularly release eggs
  • excess androgen – high levels of “male hormones”, which may cause physical signs such as excess facial or body hair and acne
  • polycystic ovaries – ovaries become enlarged and contain many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) which surround the eggs (however despite the name, PCOS ovaries don’t actually have cysts)

PCOS SYMPTOMS AND CAUSE

PCOS affects each woman differently and should be diagnosed by your GP. However if you do have PCOS you are likely to have some or all of the following symptoms:

  • Weight gain
  • irregular or no periods
  • Excessive hair growth (typically on the face, chest or abdomen)
  • Oily Skin
  • Acne
  • Difficulty conceiving
  • Thinning hair or hair loss on head

Whilst the exact cause of Polycystic ovaries syndrome is unknown, it is thought that it’s associated with abnormal hormone levels in the body, including high levels of insulin. It’s also often a hereditary condition, so it’s important to check if any close female relatives have had it.

WEIGHT GAIN

Suffering with PCOS you are likely to gain weight and it may become a challenge to sweat these pounds off our bodies quicker than we want to. Findings have shown that women with PCOS have some type of dysfunction in the cells responsible for secreting insulin. These cells are responsible for detecting sugar in the blood stream and may react excessively, creating more insulin than is needed. This means that more glucose is stored as fat, hence why we put on weight. A helpful website for suffers http://www.pcosdietsupport.com/

Following these simple diet changes will help PCOS suffers with their weight gain

  • Dairy free
  • Low GI with a low Glycemic Load
  • Balanced in terms of carbs and protein
  • Free of refined foods and sugars
  • Low in saturated fats
  • A low GI diet can help control symptoms and moderate insulin levels.

managing PCOS

Many women with PCOS also struggle with acne breakouts because our sebaceous glands (which are located within the hair follicle) secrete oily substance to lubricate and waterproof the skin. This then leads to the formation of unattractive and painful pimples on our skin.

Here at Skin Medical we have help with some of the issues facing PCOS  suffers such as

  • laser hair removal or electrolysis for unwanted hair
  • VASER body contouring for those stubborn areas of fat
  • A range of chemical peels or NLite laser for active acne
  • Co2 fractional laser for acne scarring.
