How do you know if Liposuction is Right For You?

As you may already be aware, liposuction is a surgical procedure that helps to improve the contour of the body, removing fat from beneath the skin. Many people wrongly assume that liposuction should be used as a method for drastic weight loss, however it is more suited to sculpting the body, resulting in a more desirable shape.

Liposuction isn’t the right procedure for everyone, especially if you have a significant amount of weight that you want to lose. This fat removal procedure is better suited to those who are close to, or are at their ideal body weight, but are struggling to shed fat from specific areas that are difficult to target with diet or exercise. These unwanted pockets of fat could be in places such as the lower back, upper thighs, or abdomen, where the fat is notoriously hard to shift, even with the most strict exercise routines.

There are a number of different forms of liposuction, however the method used at Skin Medical is Vaser Liposuction. This is the least invasive form of liposuction and far more efficient than traditional methods. Vaser liposuction transmits ultrasonic waves of energy through the targeted area which loosens the fat, making it easier to remove. This technique means that fat can removed in larger volumes, whilst creating a much smoother finishing product.

The recovery from Vaser liposuction is much quicker than other methods also, allowing you to continue with normal activities after just a few days. It doesn’t require an overnight stay and you can be discharged on the same day. Although the results can be seen almost immediately, the swelling can take up to 3 months to completely subside.

If you continue to maintain a balanced lifestyle following the procedure the fat should not return, meaning you can have your perfect body contour long after the procedure has taken place.
