Plexr for Non Surgical Blepharoplasty

Plexr Non Surgical Blepharoplasty Eye Bag Removal Eye Lid Rejuvenation

Unwanted skin conditions around your eyes normally matches any of the following descriptions:
• Excess upper eyelid skin
• Excess lower eyelid skin
• Hooded eyes
• Folds along upper eyelids
• Unevenness of skin folds
• Wrinkles under eyes
• Eye bags
• Festoons
• Skin laxity under eye
• Asymmetrical skin appearances
• ‘dog ears’ from past eyelid surgery
• Tired or aged appearance

If you suffer from any of the above or know someone who does then this blog post about Plexr will be of interest to you.

How Does It Work?

Plexr is a device that forms plasma to immediately transform excess skin from a solid to a gas. This process is similar to that experienced when lightning strikes.
Plexr delivers its energy only to the superficial skin cells, without affecting deeper tissues, thus enables the perfect plasticity of the eyelid movement immediately after the treatment. The result is an immediate reduction of the excess skin on the upper or lower eyelid, as well as the shrinking of the excess skin in the external region around the eye and improved skin quality and texture. The benefits are also the improvement of the expression lines at the corner of the eye and the cheekbone (“crow’s feet”).”

What’s Involved?

A numbing cream is first applied to help minimize discomfort. Once the topical anaesthetic has taken effect, a conductor instrument is used to eliminate excess skin without touching the skin. However it is aimed at the excess skin and is extremely accurate. The patient’s offending loose skin is then evaporated. What is left behind are tiny brown scabs known as carbon crust which help protect the new skin whilst it’s forming.

What’s the Recovery like?

The patient’s recovery from the crusting is normally 7 – 10 Days which is much more efficient than traditional surgery as there is no bruising. Swelling can occur on day two and last for two days. Exact time frame will be patient dependent as each patient is unique. Oxygenetics, a liquid camouflage matching your skin tone, can be applied to mask the crusting whilst the scab is formed.
The swelling will be apparent for a few days, and the eyes will feel very tight during the time before the scabs naturally fall off revealing the new tighter “baby” skin.

Is it a One Off Procedure and how long does it last?

Yes Plexr can be performed as a one off treatment and it’s results will remain just as long as a surgical procedure does.

When will I see Results?

Patient’s results will be evident straight away and optimum results are achieved in less than 30 days.

What are the Benefits compared with Traditional Surgery?

• Surgery involves cutting skin, creates a scar and requires stitches.
• Requires injection of local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic.
• Avoid risk of too much skin been take out preventing eyelids to close.
• Plexr has short downtime and
• Is much MORE AFFORDABLE..
At Skin Medical our average treatment price is £1200.

skin new yearTips to combat winter skin and keep a healthy glow this party season…

Tis the season to be glowing! Its that time of year ladies and gents, parties and events are filling our calendars and of course the New Year is closing in on us, all of which are likely documented by infamous selfies and group snaps a plenty. Not to mention the winter cold can bring about many changes in the way your skin looks and feels…

But fear not, we have you covered with some of our skin survival tips to ensure that your skin is not ravaged by the cold winter weather and stays looking fresh, glowing and party ready throughout.

Dry air is caused by cold weather and low humidity levels which strips the skin of precious moisture. Without prompt care and attention this can lead to cracking and bleeding. Central heating is another factor which tends to be overlooked when trying to retain skins moisture, as do hot baths, showers and harsh cleansers.

To keep skin looking smooth and youthful you need to counteract these effects to reduce itching, chapping and redness… here are our tips to keep your skin at its best and feeling more comfortable this season.

  1. Clean with Lukewarm Water

Hot baths and showers feel great during winter, but whenever you can, choose lukewarm water to avoid stripping your skin of its all important oils which help to protect your skin and keep it soft and supple.

  1. Moisturise Directly Afterwards

Moisture is essential right after you wash and applying moisture to damp skin helps seal that dampness into the skin. Keep a bottle handy near the bathtub and don’t be afraid to use liberally overtime you wash your face.

  1. Consider Moisturiser Carefully

Petroleum-based ingredients within some over-the-counter moisturisers can further dry your skin through the winter months. A smart formula that has natural, nourishing ingredients would be a safer choice. Opt for an oil-based rather than a water-based solution as its more likely to help skin retain moisture during winter. Try Jan Marini Bioglycolic Face Cream, a highly moisturising cream which helps to soothe and condition painfully dry skin and contains Glycolic acid as well as Hyaluronic acid for added glow.

  1. Protect your Skin

Pull out your stylish gloves and scarves to help protect skin from cold winds, rain and snow. Another important factor… sunscreen! Winter sun can easily be overlooked, but it can also be just as damaging as the summer sun, apply a safe option such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to exposed areas. Try Obagi Sun Shield SPF50 for example.

  1. Consider Humidity to avoid Dehydration

Central heating systems dry out the air, consider installing a humidifier in your home, particularly where you sleep, this will put moisture back into the air and help prevent your skin from drying out.

  1. Drink water for Hydration

We tend to turn mostly toward hot drinks during winter which leaves out our much needed water intake but don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from both the inside and out. Try swapping your hot cocoa for a little warm water with lemon. This tasty substitute can be refreshing and hydrating at the same time.

  1. Exfoliate Skin Care

Its easy to forget to help the skin shed off dead cells during winter, particularly on our hands. Yet if dead cells are plentiful, moisture can’t penetrate. Find an exfoliating mask, such as Jan Marini’s ‘Sugar Plum’ to use on both your face and hands, as well as gently on your lips. Be sure to follow immediately with moisture so that a smoother appearance can be seen. Try a microdermabrasion or Obagi Blue Radiance skin peel to accelerate the growth of new skin.

  1. Chemicals – Avoid Toxins, Allergens and Irritants to Protect your Skin

Especially if you have eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis, you should avoid allergens and irritants that may trigger a flare up. Winter skin is more fragile, so avoiding fabrics that may irritate your skin (like wool) and chemical laden detergents would be a good tip to keep in mind. Instead, use mild cleansers and moisturisers designed specifically for sensitive skin.

skin treatments manchesterWe all lead busy lifestyles, which can often mean that our skin gets neglected. Whilst a day of pampering sounds ideal, the reality is that few of us have the time spare to set aside a whole day. Fortunately we have a range of treatments available which can refresh and rejuvenate your skin in just thirty minutes.

JAN MARINI PROTEOLYTIC ENZYME FACIAL

Facials are usually considered to be the ultimate skin treatment. A luxurious treat, the Proteolytic Enzyme Facial is a scientifically based method of effective exfoliation and skin resurfacing. The term proteolytic refers to an enzymatic reaction that can digest dead or diseased skin cells without harming normal living healthy cells. The treatment leads to an immediate improvement in skin texture and clarity, with skin appearing smoother and more refined.

Laser Hair Removal

Waxing and shaving can be both time consuming and costly. Shockingly, women can spend up to £30,000 in their lifetime on waxing treatments! Laser hair removal, on the other hand, is a speedy treatment with no downtime – and is far more cost effective. Treatments often last less than 30 minutes, and take place around 6 weeks apart – making laser a far more suitable treatment for those who lead a busy lifestyle. The results are also much longer lasting than waxing – after the first treatment, you will begin to notice the results and by the end of the course you will have permanent hair reduction.

Chemical Skin Peels

In previous years chemical skin peels have been harsh treatments that require downtime. Fortunately that is no longer the case, and our range of chemical skin peels usually have no downtime at all – making them the perfect treatment for a hectic lifestyle. We offer a range of peels to suit all skin types.

The Jan Marini 70% Glycolic Peel is a light, superficial peel which reveals healthier, smoother skin, whilst the Obagi Radiance Peel is a medium peel, which penetrates the skin more deeply to remove dead cells. It is recommended for patients with pigmentation problems and more severe skin complaints.

Dermabrasion

Every now and then our skin can use a good exfoliation, but sometimes products alone are not good enough. Dermabrasion uses crystals to remove dead skin cells, leaving behind only fresh skin. The quick treatment has no downtime and leaves skin instantly looking healthy and refreshed.

Skin Rejuvenation

Whilst laser might not sound like the most relaxing treatment, it is definitely one which produces enviable results. Advances in technology also mean that it is a far more comfortable treatment than it has been in the past. Intense pulse light (IPL) is a laser treatment which can effectively improve the appearance of sun damage, pigmentation, flushing to the face (rosacea) and a number of other common skin complaints. Again, it also has no real downtime meaning that it’s ideal for those who lead a busy lifestyle.

With all of these treatments taking just thirty minutes, they’re perfect for those who lead a busy lifestyle. Whether it’s for a weekend treat, or a lunchtime rejuvenation, our treatments can be tailored to suit you and your lifestyle. Our expert practitioners will carry out a full skin assessment and will be able to advise exactly which treatment is best for you.

At Skin Medical we only stock brands that we truly believe in. True Organic of Sweden is one of just three brands that we currently stock, alongside Obagi and Jan Marini. That’s because we won’t recommend anything to our patients that we wouldn’t use ourselves, and that couldn’t deliver the results you expect from your skincare range.

Products that you put on your skin are ultimately absorbed into the bloodstream, which is why it is essential to know exactly what is in your products. True Organic of Sweden are exactly what their name suggests – an organic skincare range, originating from Sweden. Using only the purest, certified-organic ingredients, their natural range promises to nourish and protect the skin.

All You Need Is Me is the revolutionary, intensive cream which has been described as a true alternative to Elizabeth Arden’s Eight-Hour Cream. 100% natural (with packaging even made from sugarcane!), the cream protects, soothes and hydrates. It can be used on dry, cracked skin and is even suitable for those suffering from eczema.

Undercover Agent is a natural unisex deodorant which is free from synthetic aluminium and alcohol. It has been claimed that manmade aluminium has associated links with a number of health scares and therefore True Organic of Sweden only use natural ingredients in their deodorant. The only non-natural ingredient is baking soda, making this deodorant 99% natural. Encased in beautiful glass packaging, this is perfect for those who are health-conscious or prefer a more natural deodorant.

Skin Medical is a proud stockist of True Organic of Sweden. We currently stock All You Need Is Me (available in 15ml or 50ml) and Undercover Agent at our Manchester clinic.

The social-psychological effects of living with skin conditions such as acne

Skin conditions don’t just impact a person physically – there are also psychological effects to living with conditions such as acne. A 2011 study, conducted by the British Association of Dermatologists, found 85% of those suffering from a skin condition (such as acne, eczema or psoriasis) also suffer from psychological effects. The psychological-social effects include low self-esteem, isolation and depression, and even suicide. Skin issues can also promote stress, which can further acerbate the condition.
It is for these reasons the British Association of Dermatologists state “psychological and self-help interventions can be crucial not only for easing mental distress but also for improving many of the physical symptoms of the skin disorder.”

The recently launched Skin Support website (which is funded by the Department of Health) can provide online psychological support for those living with skin conditions.

Skin Medical also offers a range of treatments, including Nlite acne treatment, CO2 laser resurfacing treatment and a range of skin rejuvenation treatments.

Please call the clinic on 0161 839 7663 for further information on the treatment of skin conditions, and to make an appointment for a skin consultation.

SKIN REJUVENATION USING IPL LASER TREATMENT
Skin Medical – Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool

www.skinmedical.co.uk

USP: Dedicated to improving Skin Conditions resulting from injury, desease, disorder or simply ageing. No sales persons. Care Quality Commission Registered.

Reported:

This is amazing. In my youth I longed for a tan, but now I am paying for it with sun-damaged skin: heavy freckles and two age spots which have resisted bleaching creams. If there was one thing I wanted to change it was this. I chose Skin Medical because it is run by doctors and nurses, so I felt entirely safe; a qualified nurse explained everything carefully, answered my questions patiently and took a detailed history.

Two different applications, Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and a Pulsed Laser, were used to improve the signs of ageing, breaking down age spots and thread veins, reducing enlarged pores, stimulating collagen to tone and freshen the skin. Treatments take 30 minutes and aren’t painful, it’s like being pinged with a rubber band; afterwards my skin tingled gently for half an hour. The freckles and age spots darkened at first, but within a week were much paler, a thread vein had almost vanished and my skin felt softer. I’m thrilled.

Three to five treatments are needed at 3-weekly intervals.

Prices start from £75 per treatment for small patches up to £250 per
treatment for the whole face.
