Smartlipo
Smartlipo is a revolutionary new fat treatment. It is a safer, less invasive procedure than liposuction and can remove stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to dieting and exercise.
It's a much gentler treatment than traditional liposuction. Patients will not have to undergo a general anaesthetic in an operating theatre, as the procedure can be performed in a clinic using a local anaesthetic. This means that there is a relatively short recovery time, allowing you to return to your usual activities straight away.
It has fewer side effects than traditional liposuction and as the only incision you will require is small, no stitches are required. The probe used inside the body is very slight, which makes the risk of trauma far less than in traditional liposuction.
Smartlipo can be effective in areas that were considered unsuitable for traditional liposuction. These include the knees, face, forearms and the upper part of the abdomen.
During the Smartlipo procedure, the patient is given a local anaesthetic and a small incision is made in the problem area. A probe is then inserted into the skin, which targets laser pulses at the fat cells. The laser breaks down the fat cells, turning them into a liquid form that then allows the aspration procedure to take place. Aspiration is a second procedure that is undertake at the same time and it basiccally sucks out the liquid fat in a similar way to traditional liposuction however without the pain or compliciations from removing solid fat under general anaesthetic, as with traditional liposuction.
For certain areas it is prefereable not to aspirate however ths will be explained at time of consultation.
Smartlipo without aspiration can sometimes appear advantageous to the patient as it gives the impression of natural weight loss. More importantly, it also allows the skin to tighten naturally without the risk of excess skin, which can sometimes occur in traditional liposuction.
So, Smartlipo with the use of aspiration, removes substantial amount of the target liquid fat at the time of the procedure. The remain liquid fat is absorbed by the blood stream over the course of next 12-16 weeks for continuing improvement.

- I am in my early twenties and like most I have parts of my body I wish I could keep well hidden! I am slim but found that there was a build up of fat around my thighs which was resistant to any exercising and dieting I tried. I searched the web for an alternative way to get rid of these flabby thighs and was put off by the traditional lipo method as it seemed a little aggressive. I came across SmartLipo and decided to look into it further. I called Skin Medical Clinic and was offered a free consultation with a nurse. I was impressed by the information given to me at the clinic and felt confident in their abilities. After consideration I decided to go ahead with the procedure. On the day of my procedure I was nervous to say the least but the staff were friendly and helpful and I soon relaxed. After a few final questions from the surgeon the procedure began. I was afraid that it might be painful but with the local anaesthetic it was just a very bizarre sensation! Afterwards the area was tender to touch but I found that I didn’t need the pain killers provided. There was a minute incision on each thigh and I didn’t require stitches. It is now little over three weeks since the procedure and I can see a very slight change to the shape of my thighs. I’m looking forward to seeing the full effects of the treatment which should be four months after the treatment, just in time for my travels!
