Age Spots
What are age spots?
Exposure to the sun can cause our skin to age faster, making us look much older than we feel! Age spots occur on ageing or sun-damaged skin and can be found on the hands, back, chest and arms. They usually occur because of melanin, which is in our skin to give it colour. If the melanin becomes concentrated is one area of the skin, it can cause pigmented spots that can be dark and noticeable. How can it be treated?
Using Intense Pulse Light technology, we apply targeted bursts of light energy to the affected area, which lightens and removes age spots. Each pulse produces specific light wavelengths, which are absorbed into the problem patches of skin. High concentrations of melanin absorb this light energy, breaking them down and reducing or removing the age spot.
How many treatments will I need?
The amount of treatments you'll need depends on extent of your age spots. However, because of the power of our IPL system, you'll need fewer treatments with us than at a clinic using inferior laser equipment.
Will it hurt?
Some patients feel a stinging sensation during treatment but it doesn’t hurt. The treatment is relatively straightforward and so you'll be able to return to your daily routine almost immediately.
When will I see the results?
Your age spots should be noticeably reduced after the first treatment and your skin should feel rejuvenated.
